TRADE AGREEMENT: THE EU COUNCIL EASES CUSTOMS DUTIES ON VARIOUS AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS FROM UKRAINE.
The EU Council has adopted a decision to reduce or eliminate customs duties on several Ukrainian agricultural items such as dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, and meat products. This decision forms part of the review of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area agreement between the EU and Ukraine. It is reported that the decision will help increase bilateral trade volumes. At the same time, further liberalization of Kyiv’s access to the European market will depend on Ukraine’s progress in implementing European standards in the agricultural sector. However, for “sensitive” goods, like sugar, poultry, eggs, wheat, corn, and honey, access to the EU market will remain limited, in accordance with their quotas. The document considers the specific needs of individual EU agricultural sectors and introduces reliable protection mechanisms. The decision still requires approval by the EU-Ukraine Association Committee.https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/press/press-releases/2025/10/13/eu-ukraine-trade-council-agrees-to-reduce-or-eliminate-customs-duties-for-several-agri-food-products/https://ubn.news/trade-agreement-the-eu-council-eases-customs-duties-on-various-agricultural-products-from-ukraine/ (ICE KIEV)
