THE Philippines and Brunei Darussalam have agreed to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and fisheries, the Department of Agriculture (DA) announced on Tuesday. The agreement was signed by DA officials and Brunei’s Ministry of Primary Resources at the 47th Asean Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) Meeting which the Philippines hosted early this month. The Memorandum of Understanding formalizes a previous commitment through a Letter of Intent signed in May 2024. It entails the two countries’ joint efforts to promote agrifood trade, agro-biotechnology, aquaculture, and precision agriculture for regional food security and sustainable development. They will also share expertise, collaborate on research and market access.
