INDUSTRIAL BANK TO FINANCE PROJECTS PRESENTED AT INVESTMENT FORUM

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani on Sunday chaired a meeting dedicated to approving recommendations to activate financing procedures for projects under Iraq's Industrial Initiative. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), several advisers, and members of relevant committees.Construction equipment IraqThe discussions reviewed progress in implementing the Industrial Initiative - a key pillar of the government's development policy - and examined a detailed report on the performance of state-owned banks participating in the programme, which have recorded an increase in funded projects.Al-Sudani instructed that loan processing be expedited and incomplete applications resolved through enhanced coordination between the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, and government banks. He emphasised simplifying procedures to ensure fairness, transparency, and priority for economically viable projects across all sectors to support domestic production.He also directed the state-owned Industrial Bank to finance investment projects and opportunities presented at the Iraq Investment Forum (IIF) held recently in Baghdad, describing them as strategic ventures that will strengthen the national economy and foster public-private partnerships.The Prime Minister underlined that the Industrial Initiative represents a national platform to support the private sector, stimulate local manufacturing, and reduce dependence on imports. He noted that the growing demand for industrial finance reflects a positive shift among entrepreneurs toward establishing factories and production enterprises. (ICE AMMAN)
