A HALL FOR LEGENDS: BORDEAUX FIRST GROWTHS HEADLINES WINE & DINE FESTIVAL ON October 23
A hall for legends: Bordeaux First Growths headlines Wine & Dine Festival on October 23 Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival, the annual flagship event organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, will kick off next Thursday with the highly anticipated return of the “BEA Grand Wine Pavilion”, featuring nearly 500 iconic wines. The four-day festival, hosted at the Central Harbourfront Event Space, will feature over 300 booths showcasing a diverse selection of more than a thousand top-tier wines and gourmet foods from 31 countries and regions. One of the highlights includes a rare gathering of wines from all five First Growth estates – Lafite, Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion, and Mouton – at the “BEA Grand Wine Pavilion”, commemorating the 170th anniversary of the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. These wines will feature alongside the rare and treasured Grand Cru selections from Burgundy, creating a dazzling showcase from two of the world’s most preeminent wine regions. Meanwhile, a dedicated counter curated by James Suckling will present over 100 exceptional Old and New World wines with his highest ratings, alongside his handpicked selection of Chinese wine. His internationally acclaimed wine critic and journalist’s wine review platform attracts over 4 million monthly visits, holding a pivotal position in the global wine industry. The festival will showcase over a hundred fine wines he has tasted and rated, of which many have scored above 97 points, with some even achieving a perfect 100. Wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sip Spain’s iconic Vega Sicilia, Italy’s national treasure Biondi Santi, the 100-point Colgin IX Estate from the US, and Lafite’s Chinese venture, Domaine de Long Dai – all rated by Suckling. Among the high-scoring wines on the list is the Senor Valle de Aconcagua 2021, which won over Suckling with its elegant and refreshing profile and floral notes. It carries the aroma of cherry, plum, raspberry, red currant, and wild lavender, earning a 100-point rating, followed by Tua Rita Toscana Redigaffi 2021 and Chateau Belair-Monange Saint-Emilion 2018, which both scored 99 points. In addition, a “Ring the Bell” promotion will also be set up at the pavilion, offering surprising discounts on rare wines such as Bollinger RD Extra Brut 2008 Magnum. https://www.thestandard.com.hk/hong-kong-news/article/314239/ (ICE HONG KONG)
