INDONESIA EYES 2027 COMPLETION FOR WTE PLANT PROJECT IN 33 CITIES
Indonesia is accelerating its waste-to-energy (WtE) initiative, aiming to complete facilities in 33 cities by the end of 2027. Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan confirmed the project has received full support from President Prabowo Subianto, who recently issued Presidential Regulation No. 109/2025 to promote urban waste management through WtE technologies. These facilities will convert waste not only into electricity but also renewable fuels and other products, with each plant expected to process around 2,000 tons of waste daily. The initiative is part of the President’s priority agenda to address the country’s mounting waste problem, which reached 34.7 million tons in 2024, with over 23 million tons unmanaged. The national investment authority, Danantara Indonesia, plans to launch the project in late 2025, starting with 10 cities. According to CIO Pandu Sjahrir, the initiative has drawn strong interest from over 120 national and international companies. Danantara is currently evaluating consortia to identify those with the strongest technical and operational capabilities to lead the development.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/386433/minister-eyes-2027-completion-for-wte-plant-project-in-33-cities?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
