Subsidized mortgage lending for Kazakhstan's population to be doubled - governmentThe volume of subsidized mortgage lending for the population will be doubled to 500 billion tenge, the press service of the Kazakh government reported.According to the press service, this decision was made on Thursday at a meeting with government members, heads of other state bodies and organizations on implementing the head of state's instructions regarding streamlining the implementation of the economic reforms program for the benefit of citizens."Amid the reduction in mortgage program offerings from second-tier banks, linked to the increase in the base rate, it was decided to support the housing construction savings system. For this purpose, the volume of subsidized mortgage lending for the population will be doubled, which will ensure housing affordability," the statement said.This measure will be implemented through the existing "Nurly Zher" and "Nurly Zher - Baspana" programs by increasing lending volumes to 500 billion tenge.Furthermore, the in-demand "Baspana" program is being resumed, which will also allow at least 7,000 military families annually to purchase apartments on the secondary market."Off-take contracts will be signed with construction companies for housing construction implemented within these programs. Developers, in turn, are undertaking reciprocal obligations to fix prices for three years," the government explained. (ICE ALMATY)
