KAZAKHSTAN-UTILITIES-TARIFFS-FREEZE

Utility tariff hikes suspended in Kazakhstan until Q2 2026In Kazakhstan, utility tariff increases for all consumer groups have been suspended from October 16 until the end of the first quarter of 2026, the press service of the republic's government reported. On Thursday, the government held a meeting on implementing the head of state's instruction to streamline the implementation of the economic reform program for the benefit of citizens.Following the meeting, a number of decisions were made, including the suspension of utility tariff increases."Restraining tariff growth will be ensured by optimizing the operating expenses of natural monopoly entities. At the same time, all planned repair work on public utility facilities must be completed within the established deadlines," the statement said.Additionally, the press service noted that to prevent price increases for socially significant food products, the work of stabilization funds will be intensified by doubling the funding volumes for domestic agricultural producers. This, in turn, will reduce the cost of products in the socially significant food category."Special attention is being paid to enhancing the work of regional commissions to identify unjustified intermediaries and cases of inflated trade markups," the press service added.
