WORLD-OIL-PRICES

Oil extends losses, with Brent crude trading near $60.88 a barrelOil prices fell further Friday morning, extending the previous session's drop to a five-month low as traders weighed potential diplomatic talks between the U.S. and Russia. The price of December Brent crude futures on the ICE Futures exchange in London was $60.88 per barrel as of 8:05 a.m. Moscow Time, down 29 cents from the previous close. November West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange were down 33 cents at $57.27 per barrel.Market sentiment was influenced by a statement from U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested a potential meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming weeks and said he did not currently wish to impose new sanctions on Russia. The comments eased market fears about supply instability that had been sparked by earlier reports that India was prepared to halt Russian oil imports.Prices were also pressured by a U.S. Energy Department report showing a larger-than-expected build in commercial crude inventories of 3.52 million barrels last week.
