INDONESIA’S CREATIVE SECTOR BOOSTS EXPORTS BY $25 BILLION IN PRABOWO-GIBRAN’S FI
Indonesia’s creative economy has emerged as a major contributor to national exports, absorbing 26.5 million workers—primarily youth and women—and generating US$25 billion (approximately IDR 400 trillion) in export value by the end of 2024, according to Indonesia's Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya. Speaking during the first anniversary of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, Teuku emphasized the sector’s role in sustainable growth and inclusive employment. The government aims to raise creative economy exports to US$26 billion in 2025, with a further target of US$28 billion (IDR 450 trillion) the following year. As of mid-2025, the sector had attracted IDR 90 trillion (US$5.4 billion) in investment, spanning industries such as fashion, culinary arts, digital applications, gaming, music, and animation. Deputy Industry Minister Faisol Riza, also present at the event, highlighted the manufacturing sector’s continued dominance, contributing over 70 percent of Indonesia’s total exports. He noted that textiles and electronics were among the fastest-growing and most labor-intensive industries, with textiles attracting particularly high levels of foreign investment. Both officials underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration to ensure Indonesia’s creative and industrial products remain competitive in global markets.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/creative-sector-adds-25-billion-to-export-during-prabowogibrans-first-year (ICE GIACARTA)
