PRODUCTIVITY CENTER CERTIFICATION CENTER AND ITALY'S RINA SIGN MOU
The Korea Productivity Center Certification (KPC Certification) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with RINA Services S.p.A., an Italian certification and inspection organization, to strengthen cooperation in environmental and carbon verification ahead of the implementation of the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The signing ceremony took place on September 16 at KPC Certification’s headquarters in Seoul, attended by Kang Jang-jin, Director of KPC Certification, and Rosario Distefano, Vice President of RINA. The partnership aims to help Korean exporters—particularly in sectors such as steel and aluminum—adapt to CBAM requirements, which will soon mandate verified reporting of greenhouse gas emissions for products entering the European market. Through the agreement, KPC Certification will provide preliminary carbon review services for Korean firms before they undergo RINA’s official verification, while both organizations will share technical data and ensure consistent certification standards. The initiative is designed to reduce time and costs for Korean exporters and improve their access to the EU market. Director Kang Jang-jin described the MOU as a timely step to enhance corporate competitiveness under tightening environmental regulations, while RINA’s Rosario Distefano emphasized the partnership’s role in providing practical support to Korean companies facing new carbon compliance challenges.
