Cairo, Egypt – October 2025 The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in Cairo has launched a new supply tender under the EU-funded project “EU-Kafi – EU Support to Improve Cereal Crops Production in Egypt” (Contribution Agreement No. NDICI-GEO-NEAR/2023/442-279). The tender, titled “Supply of Seed Processing Plants” (EU-KAFI No. 2/2025), aims to strengthen Egypt’s seed production infrastructure by establishing four modern seed processing plants for the Field Crops Research Institute (FCRI) of the Agricultural Research Center (ARC). Strengthening Egypt’s Seed Production Capacity The initiative is part of the EU’s broader effort to support Egypt’s agricultural sector and enhance food security by improving the production and distribution of certified seeds for small and medium-sized farmers. The tender covers the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, testing, training, and maintenance of the four facilities, each located in key agricultural research stations across the country: Lot 1: Gemmiza (Gharbia Governorate) Lot 2: Sakha (Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate) Lot 3: Shandaweel (Sohag Governorate) Lot 4: Sids (Beni Suef Governorate) Each installation is expected to be completed within four months, contributing to Egypt’s efforts to boost the quality and availability of locally produced certified cereal seeds. Tender Details The procurement procedure is open and financed entirely by European Union funds. Tenders may be submitted for one or more lots.
