Kazakhstan nears completion of grain harvest, over 26 mln tonnes threshedKazakhstan is nearing completion of this year’s grain and legume harvest, with 26.3 million tonnes of grain threshed so far, the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement on Monday.“As of today, 15.7 million hectares, or 97.9% of the total planted area, have been harvested, yielding 26.3 million tonnes of grain,” the statement says.Farmers have also harvested 3 million tonnes of oilseeds, 2.9 million tonnes of potatoes with an average yield of 22.5 tonnes per hectare, and 3.9 million tonnes of vegetables averaging 30.5 tonnes per hectare. The vegetable output includes 492,400 tonnes of cabbage (33.2 tonnes per hectare), more than 1.04 million tonnes of onions (43 tonnes per hectare), and 380,700 tonnes of carrots (29.6 tonnes per hectare).A total of 23.6 million hectares were sown for the 2025 harvest, including 16 million hectares planted with grain and leguminous crops.Earlier, the Grain Union forecast Kazakhstan’s gross grain harvest for 2025 at 22.9 million tonnes, while the Agriculture Ministry expected around 24 million tonnes.In 2024, Kazakh farmers collected 26.5 million tonnes of grain, with an average yield of 1.6 tonnes per hectare.
