KAZAKHSTAN-MEAT-EXPORT-QUOTAS

Kazakhstan may impose beef export quotas through end-2025Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture has proposed imposing quotas on beef exports until December 31, 2025, according to a draft order published in the Open Online Legal Database. The document, open for public discussion until October 22, 2025, seeks to restrict the export of cattle meat from Kazakhstan to third countries and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. The draft order was prepared following a decision by the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations.Deputy Agriculture Minister Azat Sultanov said in September that beef prices in Kazakhstan have been rising due to growing demand in neighboring markets. He noted that Kazakhstan has exported twice as much meat this year as in 2024. Sultanov stressed that there is no domestic shortage, with reserves of about 50,000 tonnes sufficient to supply the population for several months.Kazakhstan increased its beef exports by 1.4 times in 2024 compared with 2023, reaching 22,000 tonnes.
