VIỆT NAM, EU SEEK TO DEEPEN COOPERATION IN DIGITAL INVESTMENT, TECHNOLOGY

Việt Nam and the European Union (EU) are deepening cooperation in digital investment and technology to promote sustainable growth and comprehensive digital transformation. At the international forum “Expanding Digital Investment: Connecting European Technological Strengths with Vietnam’s Digital Future” held in HCM City, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bùi Thế Duy emphasised that digital transformation is essential for Việt Nam’s rapid and autonomous development, built on three pillars: digital government, digital economy, and digital society. EU Ambassador Julien Guerrier reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Việt Nam’s digital and green transitions, noting opportunities for collaboration in semiconductors, AI, transport technology, and digital infrastructure. HCM City’s Chairman Nguyễn Lộc Hà said Europe is a strategic partner in the city’s transformation, calling for European investment through initiatives like the Global Gateway in digital and green sectors. The EU currently has 2,450 projects worth over US$30.6 billion in Việt Nam, mostly in high-tech and services. The forum, co-organised by D4D Hub, EuroCham, AVSE Global, VINASA, and the NDA, featured sessions on semiconductors, AI, and data governance, aiming to foster an inclusive, transparent, and sustainable digital ecosystem.
