VIETNAMESE FIRMS PUSH DIGITALISATION AND SUSTAINABILITY UNDER TWIN TRANSITION
On October 20 in Hanoi, the Agency for Private Enterprise and Collective Economy Development (APED) under Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance and the German Development Agency (GIZ) co-hosted a workshop on the Vietnam Enterprises Twin Transition Partnership, aiming to accelerate both digitalisation and green transformation. The initiative connects government bodies, international organisations, investors, and startups to co-develop an ecosystem for Vietnam’s digital and green growth. APED Director General Bui Anh Tuan highlighted that SMEs, accounting for 98% of over one million enterprises, are the core drivers of the economy. He reaffirmed APED’s partnership with GIZ through the Twin Transition Hub to help businesses overcome barriers and embrace sustainable innovation. German Embassy representative Jens Schmidt-Kreye emphasised that twin transition is now a strategic necessity, aligned with Vietnam’s integration goals. Experts, including Bui Thanh Minh and Nguyen Huong Quynh, underscored factors such as market pressure from the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, Vietnam’s net-zero 2050 commitment, and the need for AI adoption to enhance productivity. A signing ceremony marked new cooperation agreements to mobilise resources supporting SMEs. Participants agreed that strong public–private collaboration, guided by Resolutions No.57-NQ/TW and No.68-NQ/TW, will help Vietnam achieve sustainable, inclusive growth. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
