INDONESIA'S CREATIVE ECONOMY INVESTMENT REACHES US$5.4 BILLION
Indonesia has identified seven creative economy sectors—games, digital applications, fashion, culinary, crafts, films (including animation), and music—as national priorities through 2029. Indonesia's Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya announced that investment in the sector reached IDR 90 trillion (US$5.4 billion) in the first half of 2025, already 66% of the year’s target, signaling strong momentum. He emphasized that although games, apps, films, and music currently have lower monetary value, they are growing rapidly and will receive intensified support over the next five years. This optimism is bolstered by global successes like the animated film Jumbo, which has become Indonesia’s highest-grossing local film with 10.2 million admissions, and the international expansion of the Sour Sally frozen yogurt franchise. These achievements align with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita mission to develop creative industries. The Ministry is also confident that total creative economy investment will surpass its IDR 136 trillion (US$8.2 billion) target by year-end, driven by strategic partnerships and global recognition of Indonesian creative products.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/1913738/indonesia-s-creative-economy-investment-reaches-us-5-4-billion (ICE GIACARTA)
