Kazakh Energy Ministry pledges to prevent gasoline price spikesThe Ministry of Energy does not expect "dramatic" spikes in gasoline prices, with current prices likely to hold until spring 2026, the head of the ministry, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, said on Wednesday."Kazakhstan is a state with socially oriented support. We will not allow dramatic spikes in gasoline prices because that would affect the lives of ordinary Kazakh citizens," Akkenzhenov told reporters. He emphasized that the moratorium on gasoline price increases has no specific end date, but in his opinion, the situation could last until spring 2026."The moratorium has no concrete deadline; what is important for us is achieving a comfortable level of inflation. As soon as this goal is reached, the state will continue its course toward liberalization. We have fixed prices at this level, and they will not rise. I think they will keep flat until spring," the minister added. As previously reported, Kazakhstan introduced a moratorium on price increases for RON-92 gasoline and diesel fuel starting October 16. The moratorium will be in effect "until the inflation level stabilizes." (ICE ALMATY)
