TENDER LAUNCHED FOR BAHRAIN’S FIRST SOLAR POWER PLANT
Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), announced the launch of a tender to develop Bahrain’s first solar power plant, with a capacity of around 150 megawatts, in partnership with the private sector. The project forms part of national efforts to expand the use of renewable energy and promote environmental sustainability, in line with the Kingdom’s pledge to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Mohammed noted that a consortium of international and local consultancy firms has been appointed to oversee the project. KPMG Fakhro will serve as the financial advisor, WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff as the technical advisor, and Trowers & Hamlins as the legal advisor, coinciding with the tender’s release.
