INDONESIA EYES MASSIVE BOOST IN AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS
Indonesia’s Agriculture Minister and National Food Agency head, Amran Sulaiman, announced a significant surge in agricultural exports, which grew by 42.19% compared to the previous year, making agriculture the largest contributor to the country’s GDP at 13.83%. This growth was largely driven by rising global demand for coconut-based products such as coconut milk and virgin coconut oil (VCO), fueled by shifting consumer preferences in markets like China, India, and Europe, where healthier alternatives to dairy are gaining popularity. Minister Amran emphasized the importance of downstream processing to increase the value of agricultural exports. He highlighted President Prabowo’s directive to prioritize value-added production, particularly in the coconut sector, by processing and packaging products domestically rather than exporting raw materials. This strategy aims to enhance Indonesia’s export competitiveness and maximize economic returns from its agricultural resources.Source: https://www.thejakartapost.com/business/2025/10/23/minister-eyes-massive-boost-in-agricultural-exports.html (ICE GIACARTA)
