China Energy to invest $1 bln in renewable projects and data center in KazakhstanChina Energy will invest $1 billion in two renewable energy projects and the construction of a green-powered data processing center (DPC) in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Energy Ministry said in a statement.Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov discussed the investment plans with China Energy President Qiao Xubin.According to the ministry, total investment by the Chinese company will exceed $1 billion. The projects include a 500 MW wind power plant in the Karaganda region and a previously announced 300 MW solar power plant in the Turkestan region.“These projects are being implemented under the intergovernmental agreement on renewable energy cooperation signed on the sidelines of the COP-29 climate conference [in November 2024],” the ministry said.The meeting also reviewed a joint initiative with Kazakhtelecom JSC to build a data processing center powered entirely by renewable energy sources.Akkenzhenov highlighted the significant potential for expanding cooperation with China Energy in energy storage and smart grid development.As reported earlier, Kazakhstan and China Energy signed an investment agreement in September 2025 for the construction of a solar power plant in the Sauran district of the Turkestan region. The cost of the project is $320 million, with construction planned for 2025–2026.China Energy is a Chinese construction and engineering company specializing in power plant development and the production of energy equipment.
