OVER 200 INVESTORS EYE INDONESIA'S WASTE TO ENERGY PROJECTS
Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara has attracted strong investor interest in its Electricity Generating Waste Processing (PSEL) program, with over 204 companies—66 of them foreign—expressing intent to participate. Danantara CEO, Rosan Roeslani, confirmed that the investor selection and bidding process will begin in November, and emphasized that Danantara will proceed with the initiative regardless of private sector involvement, as the regulatory framework is already in place. Seven regions are currently prepared to implement the program, supported by waste availability, infrastructure, and integration with PLN’s electricity network. President Prabowo Subianto has committed to building waste-to-energy facilities in 34 cities, prioritizing high-waste areas like Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Bali, with completion targeted within two years. Danantara will act as a shareholder in all projects to ensure compliance with national standards. The initiative is expected to enhance public health, cleanliness, and tourism, while supporting sustainable energy goals. The government has allocated funding and is finalizing contracts and technology selection to accelerate implementation.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/387889/over-200-investors-eye-indonesias-waste-to-energy-projects?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
