INDONESIA UNVEILS NEW INDUSTRIALIZATION STRATEGY TO REALIZE 2045 VISION
Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has launched the Strategi Baru Industrialisasi Nasional (SBIN), a long-term national strategy aimed at transforming the country into a resilient, sustainable, and globally competitive industrial power by 2045. Aligned with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision and the Indonesia Emas 2045 agenda, SBIN responds to global disruptions by integrating four pillars: resource-based industrialization, integrated industrial ecosystems, technological mastery, and sustainability. The strategy promotes value-added production from Indonesia’s natural resources (e.g., nickel, palm oil, coal), strengthens upstream-downstream linkages, and emphasizes green industry and circular economy principles. Domestic market protection through local content (TKDN) policies and smart import controls is framed not as protectionism, but as a way to foster innovation and fair competition. SBIN also prioritizes export diversification, especially in the EV battery sector, leveraging Indonesia’s nickel reserves to become a regional hub. High-impact, import-substitution investments are targeted in strategic sectors such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and food. The Ministry is expanding machine restructuring, incentivizing R&D, and ensuring foreign investment includes technology transfer and innovation. Human capital development is central, with vocational training aligned to Industry 4.0. Regulatory reform, cross-ministerial collaboration, and halal industry growth are key enablers. Drawing lessons from Japan, China, and Turkey, Indonesia aims to build thematic industrial zones focused on bioindustry, clean energy, and petrochemicals. SBIN is positioned as the foundation for national economic sovereignty and inclusive prosperity.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/1931099/indonesia-unveils-new-industrialization-strategy-to-realize-2045-vision (ICE GIACARTA)
