INDONESIA’S PALM OIL EXPORT REVENUE SURGES 43% TO US$24.8 BILLION BY AUGUST
Indonesia’s palm oil export revenue surged by 43% year-on-year to USD 24.79 billion in the January–August 2025 period, driven by stronger global prices and improved production, according to the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki). Export volume rose 15% to 22.69 million tons, with major increases recorded in markets such as Malaysia, China, Africa, the EU, Russia, and the U.S. The average crude palm oil (CPO) price reached USD 1,204 per ton, up from USD 1,009 last year. Gapki attributed the growth to better yields and global demand recovery, noting that last year’s high prices had prompted some regions to shift to alternative vegetable oils. Production also climbed significantly, with CPO output reaching 35.65 million tons by August 2025—a 13% increase year-on-year. Combined with palm kernel oil (PKO), total national production stood at 39.03 million tons. Gapki projects full-year output to reach 56–57 million tons, up from 52.76 million tons in 2024. Domestic consumption rose 5% to 16.4 million tons, largely fueled by biodiesel demand, which grew 12% and absorbed 8.3 million tons of CPO. Food product consumption reached 6.57 million tons, while oleochemical use totaled 1.48 million tons, reflecting the sector’s expanding role in both domestic and global markets.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesias-palm-oil-export-revenue-surges-43-to-248-billion-by-august (ICE GIACARTA)
