THE EU AIMS TO BOOST BILATERAL AGRICULTURAL PRODUCT TRADE WITH UKRAINE UNDER A NEW AGREEMENT.
According to European Commissioner for Agriculture Christoph Hansen, the European Commission believes it’s appropriate to enhance trade between Ukraine and the EU. He mentioned that an updated trade deal, which comes into effect on October 29, includes increases in many tariff quotas. Hansen added that the trade liberalization from this new agreement will benefit farmers in both Ukraine and the EU.“Not only Ukraine’s imports to the EU, but also EU exports to Ukraine. Here we also have the liberalization of many tariff lines, which will directly benefit our farming community”, he emphasized, and he continued by saying that: “It is very important to find a balance between providing greater access and economic advantages to Ukrainian producers, as well as maintaining solidarity with our farming community”.Hansen also reported that Ukraine has committed to meeting EU agricultural production standards by 2028, marking a key step toward European integration. Additionally, the new tariff quotas are expected to provide predictability and remove unilateral bans on the importation of certain Ukrainian agricultural products by individual EU countries.https://ubn.news/the-eu-aims-to-boost-bilateral-agricultural-product-trade-with-ukraine-under-a-new-agreement/ (ICE KIEV)
