INDONESIA IS COMMITTED TO ACHIEVING SOYBEAN SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving soybean self-sufficiency, marking a strategic shift in national food security policy. Speaking in Lampung Utara on Wednesday, he highlighted the successful harvest of 60 tons of soybeans from a 30-hectare plot owned by the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) as a milestone in reducing reliance on imports. The initiative aims to transform Indonesia into a soybean-exporting country within two to three years, with the Armed Forces playing a central role in agricultural development. Sjamsoeddin outlined a coordinated approach involving all branches of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI): the Navy will lead soybean cultivation, the Army will focus on rice self-sufficiency, and the Air Force will provide land for broader food production. He emphasized that designated Navy territories will serve as national centers for soybean development, and with disciplined planning and execution, Indonesia can achieve its export ambitions. The program reflects a broader effort to strengthen domestic agriculture and reduce vulnerability to global supply disruptions.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/388685/indonesia-committed-to-achieving-soybean-self-sufficiency-minister?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
