The Rijeka Gateway container terminal, officially opened on Wednesday as Croatia’s largest private logistics investment by APM Terminals, a port operating company headquartered in the Netherlands, which is a unit of the Danish shipping company Maersk, and the ENNA Group, a Croatian energy and logistics company, positioned Rijeka as a key European logistics hub with state-of-the-art technology and plans to expand capacity to over 1 million TEUs annually, with a total investment exceeding EUR 380 million, and reaching EUR 600 million when including surrounding transport infrastructure. The project supports Croatia’s modernization, EU integration, and sovereignty, highlighting theliquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on Krk as a key investment that strengthens energy security and positions Croatia as a regional hub for both gas and oil.
