CROATIA: WB PRESENTED ITS COUNTRY CLIMATE AND DEVELOPMENT REPORT
The World Bank (WB) presented on Wednesday in Zagreb its Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR),highlighting that climate transition could drive sustainable growth in Croatia, especially through low-carbon and resilient investments, while noting rising heat-related risks to tourism, agriculture, and public health. Rising heat and water loss threaten tourism and agriculture in Croatia, but smart investments could reduce these losses by up to 50%, and with determination and coordinated action, Croatia can achieve its climate and development goals.The World Bank Group is ready to support Croatia on its path towards a sustainable future. Croatian Environmental Protection and Green Transition Minister Marija Vuckovic emphasized that climate policies are crucial for the long-term competitiveness of the Croatian economy and announced a EUR 1.68 billion Social Climate Fund to support vulnerable households, micro-enterprises, and transport users during the green transition.
