PHILIPPINE ECONOMIC GROWTH LIKELY SLOWED IN Q3 AMID GOVERNANCE CONCERNS, SAYS DB
PHILIPPINE economic growth likely decelerated in the third quarter as government spending and investments lost momentum amid governance concerns, DBS Bank Ltd. said. The Singapore-based financial services corporation estimated gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 5.2 percent for the July-September period, slower than the second quarter’s 5.5 percent and below the government’s 5.5- to 6.5-percent target for 2025. “This primarily reflects our projected slowdown in government spending and investment amid the ongoing domestic governance concerns,” it said. Analysts polled by The Manila Times have said that growth could have slumped to 5.0 in the third quarter, with state spending having been hit by a flood control project scandal. Tariff uncertainties would have also weighed on business sentiment and the impact of a spate of typhoons would have further constrained growth, they said. https://www.manilatimes.net/2025/11/05/business/top-business/philippine-economic-growth-likely-slowed-in-q3-amid-governance-concerns-says-dbs/2215758 (ICE SINGAPORE)
