SALES OF CHINESE CARS SURGE IN POLAND

Sales of Chinese passenger cars increased fivefold year on year in the first three quarters of 2025 and if they continue to grow at this rate, there could be a million new Chinese cars in Poland in three years' time, the newspaper Rzeczpospolita wrote. In its Tuesday issue, Rzeczpospolita quoted data from the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM) which showed that over 28,900 new Chinese passenger cars were registered between January and September this year, which compares to just 5,700 in the same period of 2024."As a result, the share of 'made in China' cars in the Polish new passenger car market increased from 1.4 percent in January-September 2024 to 6.8 percent in the first three quarters of 2025," the newspaper wrote. If the growth rate holds, Chinese producers can dominate the Polish market of new cars in coming years, according to Rzeczpospolita. The sales of new Chinese vehicles are growing at the expense of imports of second-hand passenger cars, according to data from research institute IBRM Samar, which compiles Polish car market data. In 2024, the imports grew by 20 percent compared to 2023, but in the first three quarters of 2025, they fell by 1.4 percent compared with the same period of 2024.  (ICE VARSAVIA)
