VIỆT NAM STEPS UP AS KEY PLAYER IN GLOBAL DIGITAL TRADE
HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam is strengthening its position in the global digital export market, as Amazon Global Selling unveiled an expanded strategy for 2026 and launched Amazon Global Logistics (AGL) services connecting Vietnamese manufacturers directly to the US. The announcements were made at the Annual Conference 2025 in Hà Nội, attended by over 1,500 entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and industry partners. Vietnamese sellers have shown strong momentum in 2025, with products sold on Amazon up nearly 35% year-on-year by July, and Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) shipments rising 40%, reflecting growing international demand and improved e-commerce capabilities. Key competitive sectors include home, kitchen, health and personal care, apparel, and beauty, with many local brands advancing from contract manufacturing to global brand ownership. The 2026 strategy aims to develop Việt Nam into a high-quality e-commerce export hub in Southeast Asia, leveraging logistics, digital transformation, and brand-building. AGL, introduced in Việt Nam as only the second export origin point globally, offers end-to-end logistics from ports in Hải Phòng and HCM City to major US gateways, reducing cost and complexity for exporters. Amazon highlighted regional success stories where manufacturers transformed into design-led, brand-driven exporters, demonstrating the potential for Việt Nam to scale global brands. Officials emphasized that Việt Nam is transitioning from a manufacturing base to a creator of internationally recognized brands, with digitalisation and innovation driving future growth. — VNS (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
