INDONESIA TO PRIORITIZE FOREIGN INVESTORS OFFERING TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER: MINISTER
Finance Minister of Indonesia, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, announced that Indonesia will prioritize foreign investors who are willing to transfer technology or generate significant economic spillovers, particularly in sectors where domestic capabilities are still developing. Emphasizing the importance of foreign investment for accelerating economic growth, Purbaya outlined a strategic approach that favors opening sectors lacking local expertise while protecting those where Indonesia already has technological capacity. Following discussions with banking and capital market investors, he highlighted their interest in understanding his policy direction and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a more conducive investment climate. To address investor concerns, Purbaya pledged to implement reforms, including the formation of a task force in collaboration with Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto to expedite development programs. He also plans to establish a direct complaint channel and dedicate one day per week to engage with business stakeholders. On fiscal matters, he reported improved absorption of the IDR200 trillion Idle Budget Balance (SAL) placed in state-owned banks, noting that Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has already requested additional funds. This capital injection is projected to help push economic growth beyond 5.5% in Q4 2025, with visible outcomes expected by the end of next year.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/5593/business-and-investment/indonesia-to-prioritize-foreign-investors-offering-technology-transfer-finance-minister (ICE GIACARTA)
