The Council of Ministers has approved the joint financing agreement for the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project (the National Water Carrier), concluded between the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan—represented by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation—and a consortium of donor entities. This agreement marks a major milestone in securing the project’s financial closure and ensuring full funding for this strategic national initiative. The project aims to desalinate and convey approximately 300 million cubic meters of water annually from Aqaba to Amman, to meet the Kingdom’s growing drinking water needs. (ICE AMMAN)
