CONDITION OF FURNITURE INDUSTRY IS DETERIORATING
Profitability in the furniture industry is falling and debts are growing. The condition of manufacturers in the wood industry is deteriorating. According to the latest data from BIG InfoMonitor, the unpaid debt of companies in the furniture industry reached PLN357m at the end of September 2025. In the last two years, it has increased by nearly PLN89m. The industry is being hit by rising raw material costs and US customs policy, which has led to a large influx of furniture from China and Vietnam to Europe. “‘Due to expensive wood, very expensive electricity and expensive labour, we are losing our competitiveness against products from the Far East, which is already threatening a permanent loss of our position on the markets”, says Tomasz Wiktorski, managing director of B+R Studio. Furniture exports in the first three quarters of 2025 fell to less than PLN38.9bn from PLN39.6bn a year ago. (ICE VARSAVIA)
