PERTAMINA GEOTHERMAL ENERGY EYES 1.8 GW GEOTHERMAL CAPACITY BY 2033

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGEO), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas giant Pertamina, plans to expand its geothermal power capacity to 1.8 gigawatts (GW) by 2033, up from 727 megawatts (MW) currently installed.The company expects to reach 1 GW within two years, driven by projects such as the Kamojang geothermal plant in West Java and other sites like Hululais, Lumut Balai, and Ulubelu. The Kamojang facility alone powers over 260,000 households daily and is key to Indonesia’s clean energy goals.PGEO’s electricity production rose 4.06% year-on-year to 3.74 GW hours in Q3 2025, while revenue increased 4.19% to US$318.86 million. However, net profit fell 22.17% to US$104.27 million, mainly due to higher operating costs.The company’s gross profit grew 3.95% to US$178.64 million, with ongoing investments expected to support long-term growth and sustainability.
