INDONESIA CONSUMER CONFIDENCE HITS SIX-MONTH HIGH IN OCTOBER
Indonesian consumer confidence surged in October to its highest level since April, with Bank Indonesia’s Consumer Confidence Index climbing to 121.2 from 115.0 in September—well above the optimism threshold of 100. The rise reflects improved sentiment toward both current economic conditions and future outlooks. The Current Economic Condition Index increased to 109.1, while the Consumer Expectation Index reached 133.4, indicating broad-based optimism across indicators. Confidence was strongest among consumers spending over IDR5 million monthly and those aged 20–30, with index scores of 125.3 and 125.0 respectively. Cities such as Medan, Pontianak, and Padang also reported stronger sentiment. All subcomponents of the current-conditions index improved, including income (117.1), durable goods purchases (107.5), and job availability (102.6). Expectations for the next six months rose due to anticipated gains in income, employment, and business activity, signaling robust consumer sentiment across demographics and regions.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesia-consumer-confidence-hits-sixmonth-high-in-october (ICE GIACARTA)
