TOYOTA, PERTAMINA TO BUILD US$155M BIOETHANOL PLANT
Toyota Motor Corp. and Indonesia’s state-owned Pertamina plan to invest $155 million (Rp 2.5 trillion) to build a bioethanol plant in Lampung, Indonesia. The project supports Indonesia’s target to produce 4 million kiloliters of bioethanol by 2027, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. The plant will use sugarcane, cassava, and corn waste as raw materials, benefiting local farmers with the expectation to produce 40,000 kiloliters of bioethanol per year for blending with gasoline (E5 or E10 fuel). Indonesia is encouraging cleaner energy through its New Renewable Energy (NRE) program. Toyota’s involvement aligns with its global strategy for low-emission vehicles and sustainable energy. The Indonesian government will back the project as part of its plan to cut carbon emissions by 32% by 2030.Source: https://www.thejakartapost.com/business/2025/11/10/toyota-pertamina-to-build-155m-bioethanol-plant-in-lampung-minister.html (ICE GIACARTA)
