INDONESIA SPEEDS UP 100 WAREHOUSES CONSTRUCTION VIA JOINT DECREE
The Indonesian government has issued a joint ministerial decree to accelerate the construction of 100 warehouses under the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), with a budget of IDR5 trillion (US$291 million). Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan emphasized that the initiative, ordered by President Prabowo Subianto, is designed to strengthen the national food logistics system, particularly in rice production centers, and address farmers’ concerns over limited storage facilities. The decree was signed by key ministers and officials, including the Agriculture Minister, Home Affairs Minister, the Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN), and a Finance Ministry representative, in line with the new BP BUMN Law requiring joint decrees for such assignments. The warehouses will be built in stages across Indonesia to ensure faster absorption of harvested rice and corn, supporting the country’s rising agricultural output. Statistics Indonesia projects rice production in 2025 to reach 34.77 million tons, up from 30 million tons in 2024. Minister Hasan noted that the warehouses complement other government measures such as new land development, irrigation improvements, superior seeds, and fertilizer discounts. Together, these efforts aim to streamline the supply chain, boost harvest absorption, and improve farmers’ welfare, positioning Indonesia to better manage its growing food production.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/391125/govt-speeds-up-100-bulog-warehouses-construction-via-joint-decree (ICE GIACARTA)
