INDONESIA'S MANUFACTURING SECTOR OUTPACES NATIONAL GROWTH, SHOWS STRONG OPTIMISM
Indonesia's manufacturing sector remains robust, employing 20.31 million people (13% of the national workforce) as of August 2025. Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that manufacturing is the backbone of the economy, citing a 37.73% share of non-oil and gas processing investment and contributing 81% of total national exports. In Q3 2025, the non-oil and gas processing industry grew 5.58% (outperforming national growth of 5.04%) and contributed 17.39% to the GDP. Despite this, the Minister noted low average capacity utilization (under 60%), indicating significant room for productivity growth. The high Industry Confidence Index (IKI) of 53.5 and PMI of 51.2 reflect strong business optimism.Source: https://money.kompas.com/read/2025/11/12/220000326/menperin--serap-20-3-juta-pekerja-industri-manufaktur-jadi-andalan-ekonomi-ri (ICE GIACARTA)
