Tau-Ken Samruk to receive priority rights for mineral development in KazakhstanKazakhstan’s National Mining Company Tau-Ken Samruk will be granted priority rights for the development of mineral deposits to safeguard state interests, Deputy Minister of Industry and Construction Iran Sharhan said."Investment in the geological sector is growing every year. The key instrument for attracting investment is National Mining Company Tau-Ken Samruk, which has extensive experience in implementing geological exploration projects. (…) Work is underway to grant Tau-Ken Samruk priority rights to develop mineral deposits in order to protect state interests," Sharhan said at a government meeting on Tuesday.According to him, 21 joint ventures have been established with major international companies, including Fortescue and Esan. Total investment has exceeded 72 billion tenge, and eight deposits have been added to the state balance.Five pilot projects are currently being implemented – Zhosabay, Kuirektykol, Karatas, Nura-Taldy, North Katpar, and Upper Kayrakty – with JORC-compliant reserve approvals expected by 2028.National Mining Company Tau-Ken Samruk JSC, established in 2009, serves as the national operator of mining assets in Kazakhstan. The company is part of the Samruk-Kazyna National Wealth Fund.Subsoil use rights for the North Katpar and Upper Kayrakty deposits belong to North Katpar LLP, a subsidiary of Tau-Ken Samruk.
