Kazakhstan extends fuel export ban until May 2026Kazakhstan has extended restrictions on the export of petroleum products for another six months, until May 20, 2026, according to an order issued by the Ministry of Energy.“The ban on the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and certain other petroleum products, including to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, is extended for six months from November 20, 2025, to May 20, 2026,” the document states. The restrictions apply to both road and rail transport.Exceptions are made for lubricating oils, fuel contained in vehicle tanks, exports for scientific research, and shipments provided as humanitarian aid.Additionally, from January 1 to June 30, 2026, exports of light distillates, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, gas oils, toluene, xylene, and bitumen outside the Eurasian Economic Union will be restricted.Authorities said the measure aims to ensure uninterrupted domestic fuel supplies.Kazakhstan first imposed a ban on the export of gasoline and petroleum products by road and rail in January 2021. The restriction has been regularly extended every six months, most recently from May 19, 2025. (ICE ALMATY)
