BIA’S PASSENGER ACTIVITY NOTES A 17% INCREASE IN 10M-2025

The latest figures released by the Rafic Hariri International Airport (BIA) show that BIA’s figures in the first 10 months (10M) of 2025 show an improvement in the year-on-year passenger performance. Total number of passengers increased by 16.9% in 10M-2025 when compared to 10M-2024, reaching 5,947,311 in the former, up from 5,089,380 in the latter. During the period, arrivals at BIA recorded a year-on-year increase of 23.4% while departures increased by 10.8%. In parallel, the number of aircraft increased by 9.9% year-on-year while the total freight handled by the airport increased by 10.3% year-on-year during the aforementioned period.  It is worth noting that passenger arrivals reached a recovery rate of 80.0% in 10M-2025 against levels recorded in the same period of 2019. This shows an improvement of 15.2 percentage points (pps), from the recovery rate during 10M-2024. However, the recovery rate remains marginally below 2023 levels (80.9%), pointing to an improvement in the airport’s activity, albeit remaining lower than pre-war levels. This comes amid the continued strikes in the southern parts of the country as well as security uncertainties.  During October 2025, total passenger activity reached 544,051 passengers, noting a year-on-year jump of 187.8%, up from 189,058 passengers in October 2024. This marked increase comes on the back of a low-base effect during October 2024 amid the all-out war. During the month, 4,498 total landings and takeoffs were recorded in BIA. In turn, aircraft activity posted a year-on-year jump of 89.6% against figures from the same month of the year prior. Freight movement within BIA during October 2025 recorded a year-on-year jump of 79.0% against the same month of the year prior. Imports through BIA noted a major increase of 116.3% year-on-year while exports through BIA decreased by 10.5% in October 2025 against the same month of the year prior. (ICE BEIRUT)
