IWIP SECURES $8 BILLION INVESTMENT FOR NICKEL DOWNSTREAMING AND GREEN ENERGY
Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) in North Maluku, Indonesia, has attracted $8 billion (Rp133.76 trillion) in new investments across three major projects. This includes a $5 billion nickel downstreaming and battery ecosystem project, targeting EV batteries and set for early 2026 production. A $2 billion green energy project will build 2 GW of solar (PLTS) and 500 MW of wind power (PLTB), alongside a solar panel manufacturing industry. The final $1 billion is for an Electrolytic Aluminium Smelter with production slated for late 2025. These strategic investments enhance the nickel supply chain, positioning IWIP as a sustainable industrial hub and driving Maluku Utara's economic growth, which saw a 32.09% expansion in Q2 2025.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20251117/257/1929584/deretan-investasi-baru-rp133-triliun-di-iwip-ada-baterai-hingga-aluminium (ICE GIACARTA)
