INDONESIA URGED TO BOOST GLOBAL HALAL PRODUCT COMPETITIVENESS
Indonesia is working to position itself as a major player in the global halal industry by building a strong and integrated national halal ecosystem through collaboration between the government, businesses, and other stakeholders. Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH), explained that halal has evolved into an economic force that drives global trade growth, extending beyond religious compliance to represent standards of quality, safety, and health. The industry is expanding rapidly across food, fashion, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and tourism, with demand rising as more people adopt halal lifestyles. Strategic partnerships, particularly with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), aim to accelerate certification for micro, small, and medium enterprises and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian products globally. Haikal emphasized the importance of transparency, requiring halal and non-halal labeling to ensure consumer trust and protection. With coordinated efforts among all stakeholders, he expressed optimism that Indonesia can achieve its vision of becoming a global halal hub, making the halal economy a driver of inclusive and sustainable national development.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/1980303/indonesia-urged-to-boost-global-halal-product-competitiveness (ICE GIACARTA)
