THE Philippines is standing at a “critical juncture” that could determine whether the country finally attains sustained high growth or once again falls into a cycle of lost opportunities, a former Cabinet official said. “Our recent history is characterized by several critical junctures... and today is a critical juncture,” former National Economic and Development Authority director general Karl Kendrick Chua said during a Makati Business Club briefing on Wednesday. “And depending on the policy that we have taken as a country, the results are varied. You have years where the critical juncture led to economic recession or depression.
