INDONESIA ATTRACTS IDR 22 TRILLION FROM 15 ECO-CAR MANUFACTURERS
Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry reported that investment in the low-carbon emission vehicle (LCEV) sector reached IDR 22.37 trillion between 2022 and September 2025, resulting in the production of 878,000 LCEV units and involving 274,000 local component factories. Since 2022, 15 manufacturers have been operating, contributing to a gross added value of IDR 180 trillion in the automotive industry and employing 182,000 workers. Bosch recently broke ground on an EV component factory in Cikarang, West Java, underscoring confidence in Indonesia’s LCEV program and advanced manufacturing push. Meanwhile, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development noted that battery-based EV production capacity will reach 374,000 units annually by the end of 2025, with 18 new manufacturers set to begin production next year after investing IDR 19.9 trillion. EV imports surged from 2,000 units in 2023 to 65,000 units in 2025, driving total sales to 100,000 units this year. However, the government will end import incentives for fully assembled EVs in 2026, ensuring that domestic production will account for at least 100,000 units, marking a strategic shift toward local manufacturing and reduced reliance on imports.Source: https://katadata.co.id/berita/industri/691d9898e6e71/15-produsen-kendaraan-rendah-emisi-karbon-bangun-pabrik-di-ri-investasi-rp-22-t (ICE GIACARTA)
