INDONESIA'S LCEV INVESTMENT HITS IDR22.37T; EV PRODUCTION EXPECTED TO SURGE

Indonesia’s low carbon emission vehicle (LCEV) sector has attracted IDR22.37 trillion (US$1.3 billion) in investment since 2022, producing 878,000 units with the support of 274,000 local component manufacturers. Fifteen LCEV producers are now operating, and Bosch has begun building an EV component plant in Cikarang, West Java. The motor vehicle industry has generated IDR180 trillion in gross value added and absorbed 182,000 workers as of August 2025, underscoring the sector’s growing economic impact. Meanwhile, battery electric vehicle (BEV) production capacity is set to reach 374,000 units annually by the end of 2025, driven by IDR19.9 trillion in new investments from 18 manufacturers. EV imports surged ninefold from 2023 to 2024, with 65,000 CBU units projected this year, but the government will end import incentives in 2026. This policy shift is expected to accelerate the transition toward locally produced EVs, with domestic sales projected at a minimum of 100,000 units, ensuring Indonesia’s EV market becomes increasingly self-reliant.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/5678/business-and-investment/indonesias-lcev-investment-hits-rp22-37t-ev-production-expected-to-surge-in-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
