UKRAINE REMAINS EUROPE’S TOP EXPORTER OF FROZEN RASPBERRIES DESPITE MAJOR HARVEST LOSSES.

According to President of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association Taras Bashtannyk, adverse weather conditions have resulted in notable crop failures, driving berry prices to record levels this season. Farmers report losses of 40–50% in strawberry yields and 20–30% in raspberry yields. Blueberry losses were variable depending on the variety, ranging from 15% to 90%, while prices increased significantly compared to the previous year ($4 per kilogram versus $2.5). Bashtannyk explained that although there were substantial crop losses, producers benefited from higher market prices. He noted that Ukraine has continued to expand its raspberry exports in recent years and now surpasses both Poland and Serbia as Europe’s top exporter. This year, average berry prices were approximately 20% higher than last year. He also highlighted that 95% of raspberries grown in Ukraine are processed (primarily frozen), with nearly all of this product destined for export. In comparison, less than 5% of blueberries are processed, with the remainder exported fresh, while 25–30% of garden strawberries undergo processing.According to the industry expert, Ukraine will continue to strengthen its presence in the European market for both fresh and processed berries.https://fruit-ukraine.org/2025/11/04/prezydent-upoa-2025-rik-nevrozhaiu-rekordnykh-tsin-na-iahody-ta-frukty/https://ubn.news/despite-disappointing-harvests-ukraine-has-maintained-its-position-as-the-leading-exporter-of-frozen-raspberries-in-europe-for-a-second-consecutive-year/ (ICE KIEV)
