INDONESIA FINALIZES EXPORT DUTY FORMULA FOR GOLD, COAL, MINERALS

Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has finalized a new export duty formula for coal, gold, and other mineral commodities, linking tariffs to global price fluctuations. ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia explained that duties will be imposed when prices are high, with gold subject to mandatory tariffs due to its elevated value. The Finance Ministry confirmed that a regulation will soon be issued under the 2026 State Budget Law, setting gold export duties between 7.5 and 15 percent to boost state revenue and encourage downstream processing. Finance Ministry official Febrio Kacaribu highlighted strong domestic demand for gold through Pegadaian and Bank Syariah Indonesia, noting global prices surged above US$4,000 per troy ounce in late 2025. The duty will apply to processed gold products such as dore, granules, cast bars, and minted bars. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa projected the policy could generate up to IDR6 trillion (US$360 million) in additional revenue, reinforcing Indonesia’s fiscal position while promoting value-added mineral exports.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/393477/indonesia-finalizes-export-duty-formula-for-gold-coal-minerals?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=top_news (ICE GIACARTA)
