Chinese company to build new $300 mln seaport in Kazakhstan by 2028A new $300 million seaport is planned for construction in the Karakiya district of the Mangystau region, regional governor Nurdaulet Kilybai said on Tuesday.“The project will help form a new international transport corridor China–Kazakhstan–Aktau–Baku–Poti–Europe. Its implementation will cut cargo delivery times by 7–15 days, reduce transport costs by 18–25% and create new jobs,” Kilybai said at a government meeting.The project’s strategic partner is the Chinese group Zhongyong International, he said.The investor has already registered a local company in the Mangystau region and is preparing documents to sign an investment agreement. The project is scheduled for implementation in 2025–2028.The future port’s throughput capacity is expected to reach 25 million tonnes of cargo per year. (ICE ALMATY)
