IMPERIAL OIL COMPLETES RENEWABLE DIESEL FACILITY AT STRATHCONA REFINERY

Imperial Oil has completed construction of a renewable diesel facility at its Strathcona refinery near Edmonton, with the capacity to produce up to 20,000 barrels per day.The facility, which is now operational, is expected to be the largest renewable diesel production site in Canada. It is currently supplying customers in Western Canada and Imperial operations in northern Alberta.The facility sources bio-feedstocks from Canadian agricultural suppliers to produce renewable diesel. The fuel can be used without engine modifications and is designed to function in cold weather conditions.Imperial Oil said the facility uses proprietary catalysts in the production process. The company noted that government policies supporting renewable fuels helped enable the investment in the facility.Imperial Oil is majority-owned by ExxonMobil. (ICE TORONTO)
